Position Overview
Overton Independent School District is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Health Science Teacher to join our Career & Technical Education (CTE) team. This position supports the Health Science Pathway, preparing students for postsecondary education, industry certifications, and careers in healthcare.
While this position is employed by Overton ISD, many Health Science courses are offered through a regional CTE partnership at our Northeast Texas Career and Technology Education Center serving students from:

Arp ISD

West Rusk CCISD
-
Carlisle ISD
-
Leverett’s Chapel ISD

Overton ISD
The selected candidate will play a key role in supporting students from multiple districts in a collaborative, career-focused learning environment.
The ideal candidate may be a Texas-certified teacher or a qualified health science professional with relevant industry experience and certifications. Overton ISD is committed to supporting qualified candidates through the appropriate certification process, when applicable.
Possible Courses Assigned
Courses may include, but are not limited to:
(All courses are part of the Health Science Pathway within the CTE program.)
Qualifications
Required (one of the following):
-
Valid Texas teaching certificate (or ability to obtain appropriate CTE certification), OR
-
Professional experience in the health science field with relevant licensure or certification, such as:
-
Registered Nurse (RN)
-
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
-
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
-
Physical Therapist (PT) or Occupational Therapist (OT)
-
Other related healthcare credentials
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Experience working with secondary students and/or in an educational setting
-
Knowledge of healthcare careers, clinical environments, and industry standards
-
Ability to work effectively with students and staff from multiple school districts
-
Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills
-
Willingness to support student certification, clinical experiences, and career readiness
Responsibilities
-
Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned to the Health Science Pathway
-
Prepare students for healthcare careers, postsecondary education, and industry expectations
-
Maintain appropriate classroom, lab, and clinical safety standards
-
Collaborate with campus and district staff across partner districts
-
Support clinical placements and practicums, as assigned
-
Maintain accurate student records, documentation, and compliance requirements
