Overton ISD is seeking a student-centered, relationship-driven professional to serve as our Middle School Counselor. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth of middle school students while working collaboratively with staff, families, and administration.
Depending on certifications and experience, this position may include additional responsibilities in Special Education or Dyslexia services.
Provide a comprehensive counseling program that supports students academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally
Deliver classroom guidance lessons aligned with student needs
Provide individual and small group counseling
Support students with academic planning, goal setting, and transition planning
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success
Assist with crisis response and intervention
Monitor student progress and implement intervention supports as needed
Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with state and federal guidelines
Participate in campus leadership and MTSS/RTI processes
Special Education Support
ARD committee participation
Assist with compliance, documentation, and coordination of services
Support behavior intervention planning
Dyslexia Services
Provide dyslexia intervention services
Conduct screening and assist with evaluation processes
Maintain compliance with state dyslexia guidelines
Master’s Degree in School Counseling or related field
Valid Texas School Counselor Certification
Knowledge of MTSS, Section 504, and special education processes
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
Special Education or Dyslexia certification preferred but not required
